Moving To Africa's 1-YEAR ANNIVERSARY - M2A

Jamy & I have been in Mozambique, Africa for just about 11-months now.
The Moving To Africa Blog however, has been around a little longer than that...
The blog went online with its first post on October 13, 2003 (a little over
2-months before we left). Where is this going? The M2A Blog has recently had
a birthday!

And no one remembered. Not even us. Poor little abandoned blog...

Why Blog? Shy Blog? The M2A Blog was started
last year as a way to document our trip to Maputo, Mozambique, stay in touch
with friends and loved ones and of course... to pick up chicks.
Well, two out of three
ain't bad
. As most of you know Jamy won a Fulbright grant to come to Mozambique
and research and write. I came along as a "tag-along" and have found
steady work that keeps me very
busy
here. And since neither one of us are any good at staying in touch
with people over long distances... we figured we give the whole web-log/travel-journal
thing
a try. How's it workin'? (Literally give us some feedback people).

If You Build It They Will Come. "As true
today, as the day it was written." Great! So now we got a bunch of old
ghosts hanging around in left field. Now what? Yeah, good question. "So
now we have a blog". Blah-dee-blah. What does this mean?
It means we now have lots of people visiting it every month) some of whom are
not in or even from the U.S... I've seen some recent
notes posted from folks in other African countries
). And they are all poking
around in our business too. And some of our newest "guests" are posting
spam... Spam our social life will you? There is already tons of spam in our social
life as it is! Keep it out of the blog you bastards. I have no answers here...
(Except perhaps forcing people to log-in if they want to post a story or comment
is a good place to cut down on the "mature ladies" and "penial
enlargement" posts). Did any of you ever see that? I would go away for
a few days and find about 10 new comments, all of which were links to places
M2A does not want to take you. So get a user name, set the cookie and enjoy
the ride! Oh, and when the sequel to Field of Dreams comes out, we can revisit
this issue in more detail.

But in just 12 short months, Jamy & I (and a few of you out
there) have racked up about 55 story posts. That's over one post a week. Not
bad. Certainly better than your average blog, no? SHOW ME THE MONEY
BLOG
! btw: the term MONEY BLOG is now owned by us. No one can use it without
paying M2A millions. And you certainly can't run out and buy the domain name
from under us while we're trying to save up for it. What was I talking about??
Oh yeah. Us.

So don't believe us, (nobody else does) just take a look at what
our stats say... these are the top 5 most read stories:

So, where does that leave us? I can hear you asking yourselves
- With what are we going to cover the future pages of the M2A - Moving To Africa
- "The Official Mozambique Comedic Traveler's Guide to Enlightenment in
the 3rd World?" Well, we won't keep you in suspense a moment longer: I
got a new job with usaid, Jamy and I are staying for another year, Jamy's waiting
to hear back from her agent (who also wants to give us millions (Yes, he used
the term MONEY BLOG™) regarding her project, I turn 32 in 3 days (I
miss you
my dear Ziola)
scratch that, today is my b-day! (we're a little late posting this diatribe),
my body is currently covered with mysterious red spots, I'm dying to give my
review of of the best sci-fi story ever told, Ender's
Game
in Portuguese, we need to tell you all about Steve's recent visit,
as well as what surprise journey Jamy had in store for my birthday (hint: not
the band Journey), all that and last week elections were held here in Mozambique.
And the answer is, yes, we are now living under a complete Objectivist
State
lead by Senator John Kerry's wife, who is in fact a Mozambican herself,
but also the great-great Portuguese granddaughter of Ayn herself. Wooohooo!
Let the good times roll. .:::What are Dan & Jamy doing on MozambiqueTV?
Who cares? They are dishing out the dirt! WIth sexy results:::.

Well folks. That's the Clip-Show. Can you believe it's been a
whole year? What the hell have you all been doing without us?? (Please feel
free to post long and
exhaustingly flattering stories
about how much we are missed). Feed the
blog and the blog will feed you. (This phrase is also patent pending. Keep your
dirty mitts off our stuff. Don't make us sick our mean blood sucking property
attorney on you. 'Cause we will.).

Cheers and Seasons Greeting from The M2A "Look But Don't
Touch" Blog.
